Peter Limone, 76, returns to prison.

July 1, 2010

The reputed organized crime member had pleaded no contest to charges of extortion, organizing a gambling syndicate, and loan-sharking in Middlesex Superior Court in Woburn. Limone had been released in 2001 after serving 33 years for a gangland murder he did not commit and subsequently received some $26 million from the government for his wrongful conviction. But then he allegedly served as acting head of the New England Mafia in late 2009 and early 2010.
